Frequently Asked Questions

The acronym for the International Organization for Standardization ought to be IOS.
However, they decided to use ISO as their global brand.

They use ISO for 2 main reasons:

  1. It means equal in Greek, and the world knows it (isosceles triangle)
  2. It ties back to following standards and norms that can level the playing fields

This international organization is responsible for over 20, 000 documents that provide guidance in order to standardize organizations and set them up for success in specific areas.

In the Quality arena standards are a set of requirements or guidelines that can be used to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency of products or services. The ISO organization authors these standards by assigning committees of experts to write and validate. Some of these standards are industry specific. However, most quality related standards use ISO 9000 standards as the foundation of their guidelines.

Great question.

We have seen people try to implement a QMS by themselves. They buy the standard,
create or buy document templates and try their best to meet requirements.

Unfortunately, when they do, quality management is not well understood, adds unneeded
activities to the business that don’t add value. This normally adds to your implementation
timeline.

Our suggestion is USE A CONSULTANT. If they are true experts of the standard it will help
your organization succeed.

We are here to help you. Don’t stress. We’ll make it easy for you to understand and we’ll
help you get certified if needed. If you’d like to see our services click here.

This is a common situation, we often run into clients that have started the implementation
process but are not quite sure if what they have done is sufficient. If you’d like we can review
your documents and give you some feedback. If you’d like to go a step further we can do a gap
analysis to see what needs to be addressed in order to ensure certification. Get a free quote!
